North Piedmont Conference baseball tournament final an all-Iredell affair

TROUTMAN - Dylan Hughesman's solo home run in the top of the fifth inning was the difference Tuesday night as South Iredell beat Davie County 1-0 in the North Piedmont Conference tournament semifinals.

Hughesman finished with two of the Vikings' four hits. He was also the winning pitcher. He went the distance on the mound, striking out six and holding the War Eagles to three hits and one walk.

Brody Hunt and Milo Peck had the other two hits for South Iredell.

The Vikings (14-11) advanced to Thursday's tournament championship where they will host top seed Lake Norman at 6:30 p.m.

Lake Norman 10, North Iredell 0 (6 inn.)

TROUTMAN - Lake Norman scored three runs in the first inning Tuesday and cruised to a 10-0 victory over North Iredell in the North Piedmont Conference tournament semifinals.

Carson Beaver was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Wildcats (15-10).

Lake Norman's Logan Sheppard doubled twice and drove in two runs. Noah Jacobsen also doubled twice for the Wildcats, and he had one RBI.

With four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Wildcats took a 10-run lead to end the game.

The Wildcats advanced to Thursday's NPC tournament final at South Iredell High School, where they will face the Vikings at 6:30 p.m.

SOFTBALLSouth Iredell 11, North Iredell 1 (5 inn.)

MOORESVILLE - Caroline Constable homered, tripled and drove in four runs as South Iredell defeated North Iredell 11-1 in Tuesday night's North Piedmont Conference tournament semifinal game at Mooresville High School.

Addison Trego added two hits, including a homer, and she picked up three RBIs for the Vikings (18-6), who scored four runs apiece in the second and fourth innings.

Addi Myers went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI.

Kynlie Moss doubled for the Raiders (12-10). Chelsea Patton, Emily Lowman and Jaycee Warren had their other three hits.

South Iredell advanced to Thursday's tournament championship at Mooresville. Game time is 6 p.m.

MONDAYSOFTBALLNorth Iredell 6, Lake Norman 4

MOORESVILLE - Chelsea Patton and Barrett Williams supplied two hits apiece Monday as North Iredell turned back Lake Norman 6-4 in the opening round of the North Piedmont Conference tournament.

Kynlie Moss was the winning pitcher. She struck out five, walked one and scattered nine hits.

Kinley Feimster, Jaycee Warren, Emily Lowman, Ansley Nelson and Moss contributed one hit each.
