Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards Admits Mistake After Game 1 Win Over Spurs
Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves stole Game 1 on Monday against the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference semifinals. Edwards played well, despite being under a minute restriction, as he came off the bench for the Timberwolves. The star guard played 25 minutes and had 18 points on 61.5$% shooting.
The game was close, and both teams exchanged blows. However, the Timberwolves prevailed and had a 104-102 win to take the 1-0 series lead. In the final quarter, the NBA star gave up two offensive rebounds to Spurs forward Julian Champagnie. His rebounds gave San Antonio more chances to trim Minnesota's lead.
Champagnie played a significant role for the Spurs, and he finished with 17 points on 42.9% shooting from deep. Fortunately for the Timberwolves, his attempt to win the game did not go in, and they sealed the win.
Anthony Edwards Takes Accountability for Costly Mistakes
After the game, Edwards was hard on himself for not battling for the boards. He took accountability for his error during his postgame interview.
"75% of the game for me is my mind," Edwards said. "My mind got to be where it needs to be. And in the last two minutes of the game, it wasn't. I gave up two offensive rebounds. Turned the ball over."
However, Edwards doesn't want to dwell on his mistakes for too long. He promised that he'll continue to improve his game moving forward.
"I'll be better."

Edwards wasn't supposed to play last night, according to ESPN's Shams Charania on Sunday. However, the ESPN reporter announced early on Monday that the Timberwolves star had received medical clearance to play. He was initially ruled out of the game due to a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise. He suffered the injury in the first-round of their playoff series against the Denver Nuggets.
It was great news for the Timberwolves, Ayo Dosunmu and Donte DiVincenzo were both out for Game 1. During Edwards' postgame presser, he revealed how he made it back to the lineup to face the Spurs.
"Right after the injury, I think the main thing was just trying to keep it from being stiff," Edwards said. "Cause that's the usual outcome of when you hyperextend your knee, you don't want to move it."
Edwards also credited the Timberwolves' medical staff and his therapist for helping him in his recovery. He also said that he felt good after the game and that he doesn't think his minutes should be limited. However, the final decision will still be on the team.
