Bishop McGuinness girls, Reynolds boys receive No. 1 seeds for NCHSAA lacrosse state tournaments

The Bishop McGuinness girls lacrosse team is the No. 1 seed in the Class 6A/1A West bracket of the state tournament.

Brackets were released on Friday for the girls and boys state tournaments, with each having three different classifications.

There will be Class 8A, 7A and a combined 6A/1A bracket for both boys and girls this season.

The Villains, who have reached the last three state championship games in the 3A/2A/1A combined division, finished the regular season 19-2 and went 10-0 in conference play. They have a bye in the first round and will play the winner of the match between North Lincoln and West Stokes.

Reynolds, the Central Piedmont 8A/7A Conference champions, received the No. 1 seed in the 8A West boys bracket. The Demons finished the regular season 18-3 and 9-0 in conference play.

They will play the winner of the match between Fayetteville Jack Britt and South Iredell.

The West Forsyth girls won the Central Piedmont 8A/7A and received the No. 3 seed in the 8A West and will have a first-round bye.

They will play the winner of the match between Cary Green Hope and Panther Creek in the second round.

First-round games must be played by Tuesday and second-round games must be completed by Friday, May 15. Third-round games will be played by May 19 and fourth-round games by May 22.

Regionals will take place on May 27 and state championships will be played in Hickory at Lenoir-Rhyne University on May 29 and 30.
