WNBA Fans in Disbelief Over Caitlin Clark's Behind-the-Back Pass

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever looked to secure their first win of the 2026 WNBA season on Saturday, hosting Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd and the Dallas Wings in the regular-season opener. With expected starting forward Monique Billings out with an injury, the Fever went with a starting lineup of Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, Sophie Cunningham, Aliyah Boston and Myisha Hines-Allen.

With seven minutes and three seconds remaining in the third quarter and the Fever trailing 64-57, Clark brought the ball up the court before the former Iowa Hawkeyes star drove to the hoop, keeping her head up as she looked to find a teammate.

As the Dallas center stepped over to help defend the Indiana guard near the rim, Clark delivered a smooth behind-the-back bounce pass to Hines-Allen under the basket. The forward then converted an easy layup to cut Dallas' lead to 64-59. On the ensuing Wings possession, Arike Ogunbowale threw the ball away, giving Indiana the ball once again.

Hines-Allen was picked up by the Fever during the offseason after spending the 2025 season with the Wings. Last year, she appeared in 40 games for Dallas, including 20 starts, averaging 7.6 points on 45.0% shooting, 6.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.

The WNBA world was left impressed with Clark's behind-the-back pass to her new teammate, taking to social media to leave their thoughts.

"CAITLIN CLARK BEHIND-THE-BACK ," SportsCenter wrote.

"Best passer in the WNBA! Leagues is doing a disservice not featuring her more! Caitlin Clark is the only reason WNBA is somewhat relevant," claimed a fan.

"Basic pass *fireworks intensify*," wrote another.

"Caitlin Clark doing behind the back passes like the court is just her personal highlight reel," commented a third.

"That behind-the-back pass was FILTHY from Caitlin Clark ," posted a fourth.

"Caitlin Clark is pure entertainment ," added a fifth.

The Fever will have a few days off before their next game on Wednesday, facing the Sparks in Los Angeles.
