76ers' Tyrese Maxey Gets Honest About Knicks Fan Takeover

The Philadelphia 76ers suffered their fourth consecutive loss to the New York Knicks in Game 4 of their second-round playoff series, falling to their Eastern Conference foe with a lopsided 144-114 loss at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

For the second straight game, Knicks fans invaded the 76ers’ home arena and provided an environment that Joel Embiid referred to as “Madison Square Garden East.”

The 76ers attempted to keep Knicks fans away, limiting ticket sales to fans with Philadelphia-area zip codes. But the New York fans still found a way.

76ers point guard Tyrese Maxey was vocally disappointed by the situation following Sunday’s Game 4 loss.

“It absolutely sucks, if I’m being honest. It just sucks,” Maxey said. “That’s really all I can say about it, man. It’s hard. It’s definitely difficult. It’s only one way to put a stop to it and it’s, we have to go out there and win these games.”

Maxey admitted that playing at home didn’t feel like an advantage at all.

“Just being completely honest, we were better when we played them in the Garden this entire season. I know we lost Game 2 and 1, but Game 2 was better. The regular season was better,” Maxey added. “It felt louder here for them than it did in the Garden.”

Maxey went on to take accountability for the lack of home-crowd energy.

“We got to put a stop to it as a team. Winning these games, that’s what’s going to make our fans louder than theirs,” he said. “I don’t know how to keep them out. I don’t know the logistics of it, but it does suck. I can’t even lie. It definitely does suck.”
