Stephanie White Blasted For 'Selfish' Move With Caitlin Clark At Home
Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White is under fire for an alleged "selfish" move at home.
White, who is leading this year's Indiana Fever squad, has been called out for an apparent "tone-deaf" move while Clark was debuting her first-ever Nike signature shoe over the weekend.
The Caitlin 1s will be released later this fall.
"What excites me most is what this can mean for the next generation," Clark said in a statement. "If it inspires even one kid to work harder or fall in love with the game, that's what makes it special."
Clark rocked the new shoes for the first time over the weekend.
However, while Clark unveiled her new, signature Nike shoes, her head coach, Stephanie White, was seen wearing some signature shoes of her own. White was seen on the bench wearing special shoes with her name on them.
WNBA fans take issue with the move
WNBA fans have a problem with that.
"Example A of Steph WHITES Sabotage and hate/jealousy of her superstar! No coach in the NBA would ever do this to their star player on their signature shoe reveal night. Can you imagine Phil Jackson wearing his own shoes when NIKE and Michael Jordan were releasing his AIR JORDAN SHOE? It's beyond ridiculous. THIS COACH HATES CC! Jealous as heck and so petty!!" one fan wrote.
"Why does a coach , like Stef need to have signature shoes??? Who is buying these, besides her family…." one fan added.
"Just selfish," one fan added.
"She doesn't care. I don't think it is coincidence that Nike had CC debut her shoes on a night against Angel Reese and the commentators instead of focusing on CC1 they immediately pivoted to AR and SW," one fan added.
What do you make of the shoes move?
