Clayton-native Johnny Dutch fell just short of the 400M hurdle finals this week at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing.
Dutch, 26, finished fifth in his semifinal heat with a time of 48.74, which left him two-tenths of a second out of the final heat. He finished 12th overall in the event.
His World Championships time was more than a second slower than his personal best 47.63 from 2010 that ranked second in the world.
The 2007 Clayton High School grad was a nine-time state champion in both hurdle events and an All-American during each of his four years in high school. Dutch continued his career at South Carolina, where he won the 2009 SEC and NCAA East Region titles before he finished second at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
