East Carolina

Scouting Report

East Carolina (4-4) at Connecticut (3-5)

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday, Rentschler Field, East Hartford, Conn.

TV/Radio: ESPNU, 105.5-WFJA

UConn’s strength: The Huskies lead the American Athletic Conference in passing defense, allowing an average of 204 yards per game. They are also second in the conference in interceptions (10).

Key theme: ECU was slowed by Temple’s defense last week in a 24-14 home loss. The Owls were able to neutralize ECU quarterback James Summers, who ran seven times for only 29 yards and watched as Blake Kemp (31-48, 272 yards) tried to get the passing game going.

Summers should play more and find more room against the UConn defense, which has given up 184.5 rushing yards per game.

The Huskies have lost five of six and are 1-3 in the AAC. Junior quarterback Bryant Sherriffs, a transfer from N.C. State, has thrown for 1,723 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions.
