Larry Fedora apologizes to female reporter after comment

During an answer to a question about the maturity of one of his players, North Carolina coach Larry Fedora on Thursday told a female reporter that “for a woman, you don’t realize” the growth process for “a young man from 17 to 21-, 22-years-old.”

The reporter, Brooke Pryor of the North State Journal, replied that women also mature during that age range.

“I’ve got three daughters,” Fedora said then. “But I haven’t gotten to that point.”

After the group interview session ended, Fedora apologized to Pryor in person. She had asked him about how Des Lawrence, a senior cornerback, had grown since an off-field incident left Lawrence suspended for one game during the 2014 season.
