Canes set training camp roster, schedule

The Carolina Hurricanes will have 57 players attending their preseason training camp, with the first on-ice sessions on Friday at 8:45 a.m at PNC Arena.

The training camp roster will have six goalies, 19 defenseman and 32 forwards. That includes 20 players who were on the Canes’ team at the Traverse City (Mich.) prospects tournament.

All practices will be open to the public with two exceptions: Sept. 19, which is open only to early-bird season-ticket holders, and Oct. 3, which is closed because of an N.C. State home football game.

Following two practice days in which the team will skate in three groups, the Canes will host the annual Caniac Carnival at PNC Arena on Sunday, including a Red-White scrimmage at 1 p.m.

Carolina opens its 2015 exhibition schedule Monday, traveling to Washington for the first of back-to-back road games against the Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins on Sept. 21 and Sept. 22.

Carolina will end training camp with 11 a.m. practices at Raleigh Center Ice on Oct. 6 and PNC Arena on Oct. 7.
