The Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday recalled forward Brendan Woods from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League while reassigning forwards Brock McGinn and Derek Ryan to the Checkers.
McGinn, 22, and Ryan, 29, were recalled from Charlotte on Monday and played in the team’s games at New Jersey on Tuesday and at Tampa Bay on Saturday.
Tuesday’s game marked Ryan’s NHL debut, making him the oldest player to make his debut in a Hurricanes uniform. Ryan became the oldest player in franchise history to score a goal in his first NHL game.
Woods, 23, has scored eight goals, earned seven assists and has a team-best plus-6 plus/minus rating in 48 games this season for Charlotte.
