Happiness is a Warm TV

‘Saturday Night Live’ spoofs Holderness Family ‘Christmas Jammies’ video

Who are Kim + Penn Holderness, from viral ‘Christmas Jammies’ video to ‘The Amazing Race’?

“Saturday Night Live” did a sketch in 2014 poking fun at Raleigh’s Holderness family and their “Christmas Jammies” viral video from 2013.

The premise of the SNL sketch is that the Tenderfield family has gathered to film the 2014 video, “Christmas Sweatpants,” but things haven’t gone so well for them over the past year. (In reality, the family has landed a TV show on a fairly obscure cable channel.)

Let’s hope the Holderni have thick skins, because it’s not 100 percent flattering.

The official SNL video of that sketch is not on their website as of Sunday morning, but there is a version floating around the internet. Also, the whole show is available to watch online at nbc.com/saturday-night-live and the Tenderfields are pretty early in — about the 18 minute mark.

Note: After the “Christmas Sweatpants” sketch, be sure to stick around for the “Christmas Serial.” If you’ve listened to the “Serial” podcast on NPR, this is absolutely spot on.

Penn Holderness tweeted about the video: “Ok other than sociopathic kids, this is pretty spot on. Gotta go, making Ron breakfast,” – so, sense of humor intact!
