Bulk sales are returning to the Raleigh area, but this time, it’s seafood
There’s a bulk sale of North Carolina seafood making it easier to stock up for Memorial Day weekend.
North Carolina seafood vendor Locals Seafood has teamed up with the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Cary brewery Fortnight Brewing to offer frozen fish and shellfish from North Carolina waters. All of the seafood has been caught or raised in the state, as well as cleaned and frozen.
The sale includes 5-pound blocks of white shrimp for $35. The following already have sold out: 5-pound bags of individually frozen catfish fillets, a 36-count box of softshell crabs and 2.5 pounds of flounder fillets.
Bulk sales have been wildly popular in North Carolina since supply chain disruptions and stay-at-home orders have made it harder to buy certain meat and household items in grocery stores. North Carolina farms running bulk chicken sales in the Triangle have routinely sold out and led to traffic jams as customers wait in line.
There won’t be any traffic jams for the Locals Seafood sale, which is all pre-ordered. Fortnight Brewing beer and fresh fruits and vegetables also will be sold in advance. Sales must be made by Wednesday at 5 p.m. through fortnightstore.myshopify.com
Pickup is Friday, May 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fortnight Brewing, 1006 SW Maynard Road, Cary.
