It’s been more than a year since Midtown Grille closed its doors in North Hills, and now we know what will take its place.

The popular Charlotte wine bar Foxcroft Wine Co. will open its newest location in North Hills. The brand plans to debut the new bar and restaurant by the end of the year.

“We’re excited to bring our homegrown wine bar and restaurant concept to Raleigh. North Hills is a perfect fit for us to start building a community in Raleigh,” said Conrad Hunter, founder and CEO of Foxcroft Wine Co. “Our business model is unique, and we hope that Raleigh residents will embrace us.”

Foxcroft started 20 years ago as a retail wine shop in the Foxcroft neighborhood of Charlotte, an affluent area about 15 minutes south of the city center. From there, Foxcroft opened four wine bars and restaurants, with another planned to open in Huntersville this year. Raleigh’s location will be the brand’s sixth.

Midtown Grille closed in Sept. 2022 after 17 years in North Hills. Foxcroft plans an extensive renovation, expanding the patio space and changing the design of the dining room and kitchen.

Wine is the centerpiece at Foxcroft, which combines a retail shop with a wine bar and restaurant.

“Guests can choose from thousands of bottles of high-quality wine from around the world displayed on open shelves throughout the restaurant or choose from an extensive by-the-glass list,” says Wine Operations Manager, Shawn Paul. “At Foxcroft, you won’t find a typical restaurant price markup on wine bottles. You can choose to enjoy a bottle tableside at the sticker price or bring it home at a discount.”

According to the Foxcroft website, current locations charge a $10 corkage fee for retail bottles under $30.

The food menu is sprinkled with wine-friendly dishes, starting with snack like charcuterie boards and truffle fries, a burger with house-ground beef and braised pork osso buco. Look for wine dinners and tastings once Foxcroft opens its doors.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Foxcroft Wine Co. to North Hills,” said Stacey Buescher, managing director of operations for Kane Realty, which owns North Hills. “The addition of this vibrant and unique concept to our property will enrich the local community and provide an exceptional experience for our patrons. We look forward to a fruitful partnership and the success of Foxcroft Wine Co’s newest location.”
