Andy’s Frozen Custard is expanding with a new location in Raleigh
A popular frozen custard chain is expanding in the Triangle with a new location in Raleigh.
Andy’s Frozen Custard, which has two Wake County stores, is building a new shop in the Midtown area.
The dessert shop will be located at 340 E. Six Forks Road, a site that has been vacant for a couple of years but formerly housed a Burger King.
Andy’s Frozen Custard opening
Andy’s franchise owner/operator Daniel Schick told The News & Observer in an email that the location is expected to open in late August or early September.
Founded in Missouri in 1986, the frozen custard shop has since expanded to 180 stores across 15 states, according to the company’s website. There are eight Andy’s locations in North Carolina, including one at 1115 Hatches Pond Lane near Wegmans and another at 3002 Leland Drive in Raleigh.
The shop offers drive-thru and walk-up service, but no inside seating. Customers can order concretes, sundaes, splits, malts, shakes, floats and other treats.
New businesses coming to Raleigh
Andy’s is the first frozen treats shop to open at the busy Six Forks-Wake Forest intersection. However, La Farm Bakery, which offers desserts, is open at the Creekside Commons shopping center. The popular cookie chain Crumbl also has a store near Wegmans.
Construction is underway at two new businesses coming to the intersection.
- TD Bank will open at 407 E. Six Forks Road, the site of the former Courtney’s restaurant.
- Guthrie’s Chicken, a fast-food restaurant known for its fried chicken, is planned for 2907 Wake Forest Road. This appears to be the chain’s first location in North Carolina.
