Triangle restaurant gets ‘B’ for flies & improper hand washing: Scores (4/29)
The News & Observer publishes a weekly roundup of restaurant sanitation scores to keep you up-to-date on the health grades at Triangle dining spots.
Sanitation scores and their corresponding letter grades are used in North Carolina to assess restaurants’ adherence to rules and standards intended to mitigate and prevent the spread of food-borne illnesses.
You’ve likely seen sanitation grade cards at restaurants you’ve visited, and The N&O previously explained what those scores mean and how they’re calculated.
Here are sanitation scores in Triangle counties for the week of April 22-28.
Wake County sanitation scores
The Wake County inspection management system shows that 89 restaurant inspections were completed April 22-28.
Most restaurants received an A grade, or a score of at least 90%.
Two restaurants received a B grade, or a score of at least 80% but lower than 90%.
Hibachi China Buffet (111 Shannon Oaks Circle in Cary) received a score of 83.5% during an inspection on Friday, April 25.
The restaurant was in violation of 16 standards.
Violations included an employee in sushi prep area handling cucumbers with only one glove on, several foods including noodles, sweet and sour chicken, raw shrimp, cut melon and boiled eggs inside walk-in cooler were not at the proper temperature, and fly strips were installed in several places across the ceiling above the food prep area, warewashing areas and clean equipment storage.
The restaurant previously scored 95.5% in December 2024 and 95% in July 2024.
Taste of China (6209 Rock Quarry Rd #126 in Raleigh) received a score of 86.5% during an inspection on Wednesday, April 23.
The restaurant was in violation of 11 standards.
Violations included cooked chicken stored under raw chicken in the walk-in cooler, no soap at the main handwash sink and a dirty cutting board and tea dispenser spout.
The restaurant previously scored 92.5% in December 2024.

Durham County sanitation scores
The Durham County inspection management system shows 33 restaurant inspections were completed April 22-28.
Most restaurants received an A grade.
One restaurant received a B.
IHOP (1821 N Pointe Dr. in Durham) received a score of 87.5% during an inspection on Wednesday, April 23.
The restaurant was in violation of 12 standards.
Violations included raw beef and raw bacon stored next to cooked food in the walk-in cooler, microwaves in need of cleaning and a wiping cloth bucket stored in an area directly next to muffin tops and trays.
The restaurant previously scored 90% and 80% in January 2025.

Orange County sanitation scores
The Orange County inspection management system shows that 10 restaurant inspections were completed April 22-28.
All restaurants received an A grade.

The Johnston County inspection management system shows that 15 restaurant inspections were completed April 22-28.

Chatham County sanitation scores
The Chatham County inspections management system shows that three restaurant inspections were completed April 22-28.
Most restaurants received an A grade.
One restaurant received a B.
La Posadita (316 E 3rd St. in Siler City) received a score of 86.5% during an inspection on Monday, April 28.
The restaurant was in violation of 15 standards.
Violations included a food handler switching gloves without proper handwashing, flies in multiple areas of the establishment and food debris accumulation behind prep areas and equipment in both the kitchen area and meat market and in dry storage area.
The restaurant previously scored 93% in January 2025 and 91% in July 2024.
Note: Google says this address is “La Posadita II.” The inspection report called it “La Posadita Reynaldo and Bryan Corporation.”
