A burrito giant is coming to downtown Raleigh.

The chain has eight locations in the city, but none of them are downtown. Soon, residents and visitors will no longer have to leave the heart of the city for a build-your-own burrito or bowl.

Chipotle is joining the Bloc[83] mixed-use development on the west side of downtown, at Glenwood Avenue and Hillsborough Street. The development features Marriott hotel The Casso, high-rise office buildings and ground-floor retail.

Retail and restaurant tenants that have already joined the development include Simons Says Dip This, First Watch, 321 Coffee, YogaSix, Volofit, Dram & Draught and Vic’s Pizzeria.

Chipotle is expected to open this summer, the company told The News & Observer in an email.

Raleigh Magazine first reported this news.

Chipotle opening new locations

The nearest restaurant to the new Bloc[83] location is about two miles away on Hillsborough Street across from N.C. State’s campus.

The restaurant chain has recently launched several new locations in the Triangle with drive-thrus, which allow customers to remain in their vehicles to pick up their orders. In 2025, Chipotle opened 334 company-owned restaurants in the U.S., including 257 with these “Chipotlanes,” the company reported in February.

Chipotle expects to open 350-370 new restaurants globally in 2026.
