A Durham Italian restaurant specializing in pizza and pasta has closed after about four years.

While the restaurant remains listed as open online, Bella Napoli Pizzeria & Italian Grill’s phone line has been disconnected, and the restaurant is not accepting online orders.

The restaurant’s sign still hangs on the exterior of the Patterson Place building, but the lights are off and doors locked. On a visit Friday morning, March 6, a News & Observer reporter saw some tables and chairs stacked in the entryway.

Bella Napoli did not announce its closure, but its last Facebook post was Monday, Jan. 26.

Brian Grabowski, a senior vice president at TradeMark Properties who helps oversee leasing for Patterson Place, told The N&O in an email that the restaurant closed around mid-February.

That would align with the experiences of social media users, who have reported having orders canceled and finding the doors locked in recent weeks.

Bella Napoli opened in November 2021 at 3511 Witherspoon Blvd. It’s across from a future OneLife Fitness, expected to open this summer in the former Big Lots space.

Other newcomers to Patterson Place include Bob’s Discount Furniture and Boot Barn. The shopping center is also home to The Home Depot, Kohl’s and Total Wine.

Bella Napoli sold Italian pasta dishes such as lasagna, baked ziti and spaghetti carbonara, along with Margherita, Hawaiian, Meat Lovers and other specialty pies, plus calzones and stromboli, salads, sandwiches and seafood entrees.
