Harris Teeter will have no more 24-hour stores in the Triangle  — or elsewhere in NC

Late-night grocery shoppers have less than a week left to enjoy 24-hour Harris Teeter stores in the Triangle and elsewhere in North Carolina.

The Matthews-based grocer announced this week that all of its remaining store locations that are open 24 hours a day will switch to shorter hours starting March 4.

Noting that it has already reduced store hours for several locations in the past year, Harris Teeter said in a statement that the change is “an alignment” with other grocers in the industry.

“A variety of factors play into these decisions, such as customer shopping trends, the community landscape, lease requirements, as well as other economic considerations,” said Danna Robinson, a company spokeswoman. “It is important to note that no associate positions are being eliminated as a result of this transition.”

Robinson said that the transition affects a small number of stores in the state, several of which are in the Triangle and employ about 6,000 employees.

These Raleigh-area Harris Teeter stores will transition from 24-hour operation to a 6 a.m.-to-midnight schedule next week:

Cameron Village: 500 Oberlin Road, Raleigh

West: 5563 Western Blvd., Raleigh

Old Raleigh Village: 3201-123 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh

University Mall: 2110 S. Estes Drive, Chapel Hill

Falls Pointe Shopping Center: 9600 Falls of the Neuse Road, Raleigh

The Point at Creedmoor: 2051 W. Millbrook Road, Raleigh

Erwin Square: 2107 Hillsborough Road, Durham

North Hills East: 120-100 St. Albans Drive, Raleigh

Shoppers are also being notified by signs at stores. Specific store information can be found in the Store Location section at harristeeter.com.
