Cary’s sprawling Fenton development adds to its roster of retailers. Here’s the latest.
Cary’s colossal Fenton development, scheduled to open its first block in April, has secured about 90% of its retailers with the addition of four new tenants.
With nearly 345,000 square feet of expected shopping, dining and entertainment space on Cary Towne Boulevard between I-40 and Maynard Road, Fenton is one of the largest retail-driven projects under development in the country, according to Hines, the international real estate investor building Fenton in partnership with South Carolina’s Columbia Development.
The $850 million project will include three new stores and a fitness center, company representatives told The News & Observer Tuesday: Southern Tide, Vestique, Archer Paper Goods and Club Pilates.
“We want to bring people in for the retail first,” Hines director Paul Zarian said in an interview. “We want to show people we have the best shops and eateries around.”
Southern Tide, a popular clothier founded in South Carolina, will fill a 1,726-square-foot store. The lifestyle brand is well-known for its preppy southern styles and sailing-inspired designs.
A 2,165-square-foot Vestique boutique will feature an assortment of women’s clothing. The company was founded by women and employs more than 100 women across 10 locations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
“We are very excited to be a part of the dynamic tenant mix at Fenton,” Vestique co-founder Morgan Lashley said in a press release. “Vestique will bring Fenton shoppers the latest trends and designer-inspired pieces at prices that won’t break the bank.”
Archer Paper Goods is a stationery and gift retailer specializing in greeting cards, desk supplies, pencils, art prints and gift wrap. Its 1,748-square-foot Fenton location will be the company’s fifth — its first in the Triangle.
“Archer Paper Goods is pleased to add Cary, North Carolina, to our list of locations,” owner Dan Collier said in a release. “It’s important to us to be a part of a thriving community like Cary, and to be a part of this exciting new retail experience at Fenton.”
Club Pilates will open its ninth Triangle location in a 1,845-square-foot space. The franchise will host group classes seven days a week.
Other retailers and restaurants
Previously announced Fenton retailers include Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Athleta, Paragon Theaters, Arhaus Furniture, Sephora, Free People, Bailey’s Fine Jewelry, LunchboxWax, Zen Nail Bar and Von Kekel Aveda Lifestyle Salon Spa.
The development has also secured several high-end culinary options such as Scott Crawford’s Crawford Brothers Steakhouse, Steve Palmer’s Colletta Italian restaurant, Michael Lee’s M Sushi, Ford Fry’s Superica “Tex-Mex” cuisine and local favorite Dram & Draught, a whiskey bar and tap room. Other options include Honeysuckle Gelato, CRU Food & Wine Bar and Sports & Social, which will open as the Triangle’s largest sports bar at 22,000 square feet.
Most of Fenton’s shopping, dining and entertainment spaces are expected to open in early 2022. The mixed-use community will also include 200,000 square feet of office space, a 175-key boutique hotel and The Allison, a 357-unit luxury apartment community that will begin pre-leasing next year.
The site will eventually host a grocery store, but a tenant has yet to be announced. Wegmans had previously committed to joining the complex, but backed out in March.
