Big changes for Raleigh’s Moore Square market + an update on Morrisville shopping center
Plenty has been happening in the Triangle retail world recently.
The News & Observer reported on new locations for Sodabox, a local family-owned chain specializing in dirty soda, and for Captain Cookie & the Milk Man.
There has been expansion news for larger companies, too. The popular grocer Publix will open three new stores in the Triangle in 2025. And Rowan, an ear-piercing studio with locations across the country, is setting up its first Raleigh brick-and-mortar at Village District (aka Cameron Village).
Here are a few other retail news items to know.
Downtown Raleigh market has new operator
Moore Square Market in downtown Raleigh has a new name and is being run by a new group.
Downtown Raleigh Alliance handed the reins to Black Flea Market, and the weekly event is now called Dream Moore Market. It’s scheduled for 1-5 p.m. every Sunday through October at Moore Square, 201 S. Blount St.
The free, family- and pet-friendly market showcases local, Black-owned small businesses.
Moore Square is named for Alfred Moore, an 18th-century N.C. Attorney General and U.S. Supreme Court justice, The News & Observer previously reported.
