Toys ‘R’ Us is back with an NC store, and it’s in the Triangle. Here’s where

Toys “R” Us is making a comeback in North Carolina.

At its peak, Toys ‘R’ Us was the go-to toy store in America, with more than 700 nationwide. It was the go-to store for everything from stuffed animals to collectables and video games.

The 70-year-old company filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and has since spiraled downward. All of its North Carolina stores closed in 2018, The News & Observer previously reported.

But the once popular destination for toys and gifts for kids of all ages will temporarily return to the Triangle just in time for the holiday season.

The new Toys ‘R’ Us store is open now at Raleigh’s Crabtree Valley Mall, which is already home to the LEGO Store, Tic Tac Toys and a Build-A-Bear Workshop.

But the iconic toy brand recently announced that it would open 30 new stores by the end of the year, with some of those stores now open for shoppers. The Toys ‘R’ Us plans include eight flagship stores and more than 20 seasonal store locations.

What can families expect at the Crabtree Valley Mall location?

Shoppers will find a curated mix of the hottest toys, games and seasonal must-haves, alongside nostalgic favorites like Barbie, LEGO and Hot Wheels.

The store also features interactive play areas and photo opportunities with Geoffrey the Giraffe, designed to bring back the magic of toy shopping and provide kids with a hands-on experience that online shopping cannot replace.

“The Crabtree Valley Mall location is a Toys ‘R’ Us Holiday Shop, open seasonally to bring the magic of toy shopping to Raleigh families during the busiest shopping months of the year,” Go! Retail Group said on its website.
