Coronavirus

Join our Reader Advisory Panel as the N&O reports on the COVID-19 pandemic

Since the first case of coronavirus was discovered in the Triangle on March 3, our journalists at The News & Observer and The Herald-Sun have produced thousands of reports on the pandemic and its impact on our region and across the state.

Along the way, our growing legions of readers have played an important role in our reporting: asking insightful questions, offering story ideas, becoming subscribers and donors, signing up for our newsletters and alerts, and being part of our daily coverage.

Our readers also have generously supported our pandemic Recovery Lab, which began in June with three reporters from the non-profit Report for America. With continued support from individuals and organizations, we will be able to add three more reporters who will deeply report on COVID-19 recovery throughout the coming months.

But there’s another way you can be involved: our new Reader Advisory Panel, which will offer insights to our journalists who are writing about pandemic recovery in the Raleigh region and around North Carolina.

We’re looking for a diverse group of up to 20 people who are interested in being part of discussions about the impact of coronavirus, sharing their expertise and their questions with our journalists.

The Reader Advisory Panel will meet, via remote conferencing, once a month through the end of 2020. Members of the panel will have regular opportunities to discuss ideas and concerns with our journalists, through virtual meetings and email.

To apply for the Reader Advisory Panel, please complete this form at bitly.com/covidRAP. We’re looking forward to hearing from you, and discussing ways to extend and enhance our coverage of one of the most urgent issues of our lifetime.
