Durham police arrest second man charged in December killing

A second man charged in a December 2018 shooting of a 45-year-old man in Durham was arrested Monday.

Antonio Johnson was arrested on a murder charge on Wynn Road by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Joint Fugitive Task Force, according to Durham police.

Durham officers discovered Ricky Yates lying outside in the 100 block of East Cornwallis Road just before 6:15 p.m. Dec. 2. He had been shot, police said.

On Feb. 14, police announced that Johnson, 19, and Rashawn Deleon, 21, were charged with his murder. At the time, Deleon was in custody at the Wake County jail.

There were 32 reported criminal homicides in Durham in 2018, according to the Police Department’s website, up from 21 the year before.
