Woman’s body discovered in Crabtree Valley Mall parking lot

Raleigh police responded to Crabtree Valley Mall about 9 a.m. Thursday after a woman’s body was found in the parking lot.

The body was in the lot on the back side of the mall, near Panera Bread and the Pottery Barn loading dock. A couple who regularly walk at the mall said they discovered the woman’s body as they were coming down the parking deck stairs from the upper level. They said they ran to get security.

A police watch commander said Thursday afternoon that the death was ruled suicide.

A portion of the back part of the mall, near Crabtree Creek, was closed and blocked off by police tape and emergency vehicles for several hours.
