Raleigh woman charged after man dies in Wake Forest triple stabbing
A Raleigh woman will be charged with murder after one of three people she is accused of stabbing Tuesday night died from his injuries, officials said.
Rebecca Ashley Nelson, 38, is being treated at a medical facility and faces charges of murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, a Wake Forest spokesperson said in a news release.
Wake Forest police are investigating the incident that occurred Tuesday night in a neighborhood off Capital Boulevard, the town reported. Police were called to the 1100 block of Fairway Villas Drive about 7:34 p.m.
“Police do not believe the incident was a random act,” the town said.
Three people were taken to the hospital, the town said. Terry Carter died at the hospital, the release said. Two other people taken to the hospital, Suzanne Nelson and Susan Carter, have been released, WRAL reported.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday night it had responded to a call that might be connected to the Wake Forest incident.
Police said a woman, later identified as Rebecca Nelson, entered The Poppe Shoppe, a convenience store near Mebane in the western part of Orange County covered in blood, officials said. (An earlier version of this article misspelled the name of the store.)
She said she had been stabbed in Wake Forest, according to a news release. The Poppe Shoppe is about 44 miles west of the incident in Wake Forest.
When a deputy arrived, Rebecca Nelson informed him that Wake Forest police were looking for her in connection with a “domestic situation,” the release said. Nelson was not injured, and the blood was not hers, according the release.
The deputy “developed concerns for the woman’s well-being” and called for an ambulance to take her to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, the release said.
County records show Rebecca Nelson and Suzanne Nelson are married.
WRAL reports Terry and Susan Carter are Suzanne Nelson’s uncle and aunt.
