Trash pickups change for 4th of July week. Here are schedules in Triangle towns

Local governments in the Triangle will either be closed or reduce their operations to observe the Independence Day holiday on Tuesday, July 4.

That means your normally scheduled trash and recycling pickup could be changed — most likely, delayed — this week.

Here are the schedules in cities and counties around the Triangle, and when you can expect to have your trash and recycling picked up.

Raleigh 4th of July garbage schedule

Collection will be delayed by one day, Tuesday through Friday, with Friday customers being collected on Saturday. You can use the city’s online, interactive tool at raleighnc.gov to check your collection schedule.

The city’s Yard Waste Center will be closed Tuesday, July 4, but will operate on a regular schedule the rest of the week.

Cary 4th of July garbage schedule

Trash and recycling will run on a normal schedule Monday. Starting Tuesday, waste collection will be delayed by one day this week.

The Citizen’s Convenience Center will be closed Tuesday and will reopen on Wednesday.

If you have questions about Cary town services or operations, dial 311 anywhere in Cary or 919-469-4000 outside town limits.

Apex 4th of July garbage schedule

Trash and recycling will run on a normal schedule Monday. Starting Tuesday, recycling collection will be delayed by one day this week.

Yard Waste will be collected Monday, and Wednesday through Friday, with all routes being collected during those four days.

Apex residents can sign up to receive notifications when changes to solid waste collection schedules are made. Visit apexnc.org/1115/Solid-Waste-Collection-Reminders.

More information about the schedule changes is available on the town calendar at apexnc.org/calendar. The town recommends calling customer service at 919-362-8676 if you are ever in doubt about your correct collection day.

City of Durham 4th of July garbage schedule

All curbside collections for garbage, recycling, and yard waste will be delayed by one business day with Friday yard waste customers receiving their curbside collections on Monday, July 10.

The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility and the Household Hazardous Waste Center will close on Tuesday, July 4.

Chapel Hill 4th of July garbage schedule

There will be no Solid Waste collections on Tuesday, July 4. Tuesday residential collection routes will take place on Wednesday, July 5 instead.

The Yard Trimmings collection schedule will not be affected. Commercial Trash routes will be completed by the end of the week.

Garner 4th of July garbage schedule

There will be no solid-waste collection on Tuesday, July 4. Tuesday routes will receive service on Wednesday. Residents on Monday routes and on Wednesday through Friday routes should put their waste curbside on their regular days.

Holly Springs 4th of July garbage schedule

Garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by one day Tuesday through Friday, with Friday customers served on Saturday, July 8.

Fuquay-Varina 4th of July garbage schedule

Due to landfill closures on July 4, Tuesday customers’ garbage will be collected on Monday, July 3. Monday and Tuesday customers should put their carts by the road on Sunday evening, July 2.

Knightdale 4th of July garbage schedule

Trash and recycling will run on a normal schedule Monday. Collection will be delayed by one day, Tuesday through Friday, with Friday customers being collected on Saturday.

Morrisville 4th of July garbage schedule

Solid waste services will operate as normal. The only holidays observed by the town’s solid waste contractor in 2023 are Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Hillsborough 4th of July garbage schedule

Town of Hillsborough offices will be closed, and garbage collection will be rescheduled Tuesday, July 4. Routes normally served on Tuesday will instead be served on Wednesday, July 5.

Carrboro 4th of July garbage schedule

Solid waste services will operate as normal. Independence Day is not an observed holiday for Solid Waste Collection, and the next observed holiday is Labor Day on Monday, September 4.

Wake Forest 4th of July garbage schedule

Monday’s trash and recycling route will operate according to the normal schedule. The Tuesday through Friday routes will operate one day later than normal and extend into Saturday.

Yard waste will not be collected July 4. During the week of July 3, the collection of all routes, including Tuesday’s route, will occur throughout the week until all are completed. Residents are urged to leave their normal yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m. Monday.

Bulk waste will also be collected one day later than normal during the week of July 4. Bulk collection will begin Wednesday, July 5, and may extend into Thursday, July 6.

Zebulon 4th of July garbage schedule

Solid waste is collected weekly on Fridays, and recycling is collected every other Friday. The Independence Day holiday does not impact collection schedules, according to the 2023 service calendar.

Wake County 4th of July garbage schedule

Solid Waste Convenience Centers and Multi-Material/Household Hazardous Waste sites are closed on July 4.

Durham County 4th of July garbage schedule

Unincorporated residents participating in the County’s Roadside Recycling Program (green recycling carts) will have no changes to their recycling collection due to the Independence Day holiday.

The Durham County General Services Department will close all three of its solid waste and recycling convenience sites on July 4. Durham County residents with a current 2022-2023 solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling and yard waste at the County’s convenience sites on July 5.

Tuesday recycling will be collected on Wednesday, July 5. Starting Tuesday, recycling collection will be delayed by one day this week.
