Are the Trump administration’s actions affecting you in the Raleigh area? We want to know
Since President Donald Trump took office in January, his administration has signed dozens of executive orders and, through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Elon Musk, fired thousands of federal workers and canceled contracts or grants impacting groups across the country.
We at The News & Observer want to hear directly from you about how these actions have impacted your life, especially if you’re in the Raleigh region.
If you work for a government agency, or a nonprofit or other organization impacted by these cuts, please get in touch with our journalists so we can help inform the public.
We’ve been hard at work learning and sharing how the Trump administration has been changing the lives of North Carolinians through executive orders and grant cancellations. To name a select few, we’ve detailed how:
- Tariffs could impact NC industries and cause layoffs, plus raise taxes.
- UNC System schools are “screening” curriculum and “scrubbing” websites to comply with DEI orders.
- Federal job and aid cuts hit our state’s national parks and Triangle nonprofits, laying off employees.
- Bills about immigration, cryptocurrency and eliminating DEI from state agencies are moving quickly through the General Assembly’s committees.
Your stories will help us have a clearer, more personal picture of the Trump administration’s actions impacting people not just across the state, but in our own neighborhoods.
But we understand this outreach can come with fear of retaliation, so we will make and stick to a few promises:
- What you share with us will be kept confidential, and it will not be published unless you give us explicit permission.
- We will not share your name or details without your consent.
- You are welcome to request to share information confidentially, and we will protect your identity.
