A popular comedian’s show has been postponed, the latest in a string of event shake-ups in Raleigh.
Gabriel Iglesias was set to tell jokes at the Lenovo Center on Friday, April 3, but the show isn’t going to happen the way it was originally planned. As of 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 3, , the date for the rescheduled show hadn’t been revealed on the website for ticket vendor Ticketmaster.
The Lenovo Center urges fans to save their Iglesias tickets, saying it will honor them on a future date. But with this show and others in the Triangle being canceled or delayed, what are your rights as a ticket holder?
Here’s what Ticketmaster and the Lenovo Center have said about rescheduled shows and getting your money back.
What are the venue’s ticket policies?
The Lenovo Center can fit about 20,000 people and is set to undergo a major remodel. When an entertainer makes changes to a scheduled performance, the venue said it sends updates to media outlets and posts them to lenovocenter.com.
“If an event is canceled, refunds will be available at the original point of purchase,” the venue wrote on its website. “For example, any tickets purchased at the ticket office would be refunded at the ticket office; tickets purchased through ticketmaster.com would be automatically refunded.”
But if an event is rescheduled, the Lenovo Center said “tickets purchased for the original date will be honored at the new date.”
What if the rescheduled date doesn’t work for you? The policy for Ticketmaster, which sells seats for the Lenovo Center, has a clause for that.
“If the event organizer has authorized refunds and you notify us within the specified deadline that you are unable to attend the rescheduled event, you will be able to cancel your order and obtain a refund,” according to the ticket vendor.
In addition to changing dates, Ticketmaster said it’s possible that shows move to different times or venues. The website said it tries to let ticket holders know about changes to events, so check your profile for updates before you leave the house.
“We are not liable for travel, accommodation, hospitality, or any other expenses that you or anyone else incurs in connection with a canceled, postponed, rescheduled, or moved event,” Ticketmaster wrote on its website.
What happened with the Gabriel Iglesias show?
The Lenovo Center said a scheduling conflict led to the postponement of Iglesias’ show. Some fans weighed in on the venue’s Facebook page, saying they had arranged for child care or hotel stays for the original date.
When the announcement was made on March 31, Ticketmaster, in an email to ticket holders said the event organizer wasn’t allowing refunds but noted that the situation could change.
“Please hold onto your tickets as they will be valid for the new date,” Ticketmaster wrote on its website as of April 2. “You can locate your tickets by signing in to your online account. If your event is eligible for a refund or credit, those options will be visible within the Event Details of your order.”
Though a Ticketmaster webpage said the rescheduled date is still being determined, Iglesias’ website lists a Sunday, Nov. 22 tour stop at the Lenovo Center. The News & Observer has asked representatives for the venue, Ticketmaster and Iglesias whether April 3 tickets will be honored on that date and is awaiting a response.
Other Raleigh shows canceled or postponed
Iglesias is the latest comedy act to make changes to a Raleigh show.
The Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts in an email to ticket holders said Taylor Tomlinson canceled an appearance that had been scheduled for February due to illness. And a Jimmy O. Yang show planned at the same venue was pushed from October 2025 to March 2026, the comedian wrote in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, the Lenovo Center said a Women’s Empowerment event that was on its schedule for March was canceled.
