The Durham Police Department is investigating 12 armed robberies in which “the suspect or suspects are targeting Hispanic victims,” the department said in a statement on Sunday.

The armed robberies “targeted victims at Hispanic owned or frequented establishments” along Guess Road, near Avondale Drive and Foushee Street, police said. The crimes occurred between July 1 and July 11.

According to police, many of the victims say they’ve been followed home and robbed.

“Cash, debit cards, and phones have been reported stolen in these robberies,” the police department said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robberies to call investigator T. Blake at (919) 560-4440 ext. 29282 or investigator S. Ellison at (919) 560-4440 ext. 29550; or to call CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards of up to $2,000 for information leading to arrests in felony cases. Callers never have to identify themselves.

The Durham Police Department has not responded to messages from The News & Observer seeking more information.
