Cary Town Manager Sean Stegall placed on administrative leave

The Cary town manager has been placed on administrative leave, ABC11, The News & Observer’s newsgathering partner, reported Friday afternoon.

Sean Stegall has been the town manager since 2016 after leaving Illinois, where he also worked in local government.

He is responsible for implementing policies set by the Cary Town Council and is responsible for the operations of all town staff and departments.

Details about Stegall’s leave have not been released. Russ Overton, the deputy town manager, is serving as the interim town manager.

Mayor Harold Weinbrecht has not responded to messages from The News & Observer seeking more information as of 3 p.m. Friday.

Stegall also has not responded to The N&O’s messages.
