15-year-old dies after being shot in Durham early Sunday

A 15-year-old boy died after being shot in Durham early Sunday morning, according to police.

Officers responded to a shooting call at 2:48 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Seven Oaks Road, according to a Durham Police Department media release.

Police found the teen with a gunshot wound at a local hospital, where he died a short time later, the release states.

Police didn’t release the teen’s name. No charges have been filed, the release states.

This is the second juvenile killed by gunfire in Durham this summer.

In July, 12-year-old Tyvien McLean, a sixth-grader at Lowe’s Grove Middle School, died after being hit by a bullet that came through a second-story window last week, as a shootout unfolded outside a Durham apartment complex.
