Efland man dies after Durham collision, city’s 2nd deadly crash in under 24 hours
Durham police are investigating a Wednesday night collision that killed a 52-year-old motorcycle rider.
It happened just before 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Miami Boulevard and T.W. Alexander Drive.
A woman driving a 2010 Nissan Altima failed to stop for the red light at T.W. Alexander Drive, according to a Durham Police Department news release.
Her car entered the path of a westbound 2005 Yamaha motorcycle operated by David Hilliard of Efland that caused the motorcycle to collide with the right side of the Nissan, the release stated.
Hilliard was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, the release stated.
The woman driving the Nissan, whose name has not been released, was not injured.

The crash was the second fatal collision in Durham in less than 24 hours.
Just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, 45-year-old Tysiea Gurley, of Durham, was struck and killed by an “unknown motor vehicle” on North Alston Avenue, police said.
