Man accused of killing former stepfather with single gunshot in Johnston County
A Fayetteville man is accused of killing his former stepfather at his home in the town of Benson in Johnston County.
James Dwight Peacock, 69, was found shot once inside his home on N.C. 27 West in Benson around 4:11 p.m. June 15 by Johnston County sheriff’s deputies who had been sent to check on him.
A week later, deputies charged 25-year-old Wesley Alexander Jones with murder and confirmed their relationship.
Jones is being held in the Johnston County jail without bail.
Authorities arrested Jones in Cumberland County with the help of the Cumberland and Wake sheriff’s offices.
