Man found shot and killed in crashed car on Western Boulevard in Raleigh

A fatal shooting shut down a section of Western Boulevard on Monday evening after a multi-vehicle crash.

Around 5:20 p.m., police were notified of a crash on Western Boulevard and Varsity Drive near N.C. State’s campus in Raleigh.

Officers found a man who had been shot inside one of the crashed cars. He was pronounced dead at the site of the crash.

No one else was injured in the crash, police said.

Police have not identified the man, and there are no suspects in custody. Police also said this appears to be an “isolated incident.”

This is the second homicide in Raleigh this week.

On Sunday, 58-year-old Wanda Anderson was stabbed to death near the 2800 block Laodicea Drive. A 75-year-old suspect is in custody and has been charged with murder in her death.
