2nd Durham man arrested in fatal shooting of 22-year-old in Raleigh
Almost a year after a 22-year-old man was fatally shot in Raleigh, police have arrested a second man in his death, officials announced Monday.
Emmanuel Ajene Jones, 22, of Durham, is charged with murder and felony obstructing justice in the Dec. 2, 2023, death of Nicolas Ricardo Carrasco-Domenech, police said.
Carrasco-Domenech was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 100 block of Summit Avenue in the Caraleigh neighborhood. at 8:37 p.m. An autopsy report released to The News & Observer on Tuesday shows he was shot at least six times and beaten about the head, neck, torso and extremities.
Marcus Anthony Fletcher, 23, also of Durham, was arrested two days after Carrasco-Domenech’s death on a charge of murder.
Details are scant, but court records show Jones was indicted on Nov. 18. The indictment alleges he deliberately misled homicide detectives from Jan. 27, 2024, to March 24, 2024, about the details of Carrasco-Domenech’s death.
“The defendant plotted with other parties to remove and destroy evidence related to the murder of Nicolas Carrasco-Domenech,” the indictment states.
Fletcher and Jones remained in the Wake County jail without bail as of Monday afternoon. Jones is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 9 at the Wake County courthouse, records show.
