A man was shot to death in a parking garage Friday night in the upscale Fenton shopping development in Cary.

The Cary Police Department said the shooting occurred just before 9 p.m. Police found the man inside a car, dead from an apparent, single gunshot wound, in the Green parking deck.

Saturday morning Cary police identified him as 23-year-old Cory Edward McNeill.

Police have charged 24-year-old Malik Emaje Scott-McClarin with murder.

Shortly after finding McNeill in the car, police said Scott-McClarin contacted the department and turned himself in.

According to Cary police, the men knew each other.

On arresting documents, Cary police said Scott-McClarin worked for Sunstates Security, a private security firm contracted with Fenton.

“The Cary Police Department would like to assure the public that there is no ongoing threat to their safety related to this incident,” the department said in a statement Saturday morning. “We are grateful for the swift action and cooperation of our officers and community members which led to a quick resolution.”
