Police investigating after Fuquay-Varina woman, man found dead of gunshot wounds
Police are investigating after finding a man and a woman dead from gunshot wounds Saturday at a home in Fuquay-Varina.
A caller reported someone had been shot shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday at 817 Highwater Place, according to a news release. Police officers found a woman, Cathleen Lesniak, 59, with fatal gun-related injuries. Officers also found a man, George Lesniak, 63, who appeared to have a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot injury.
Lesniak worked as a vice president of training for Autel Automotive Intelligence USA, according to his LinkedIn and Facebook pages. His wife, Cathleen, was employed as a technical production manager at Advance Auto Parts, according to her Facebook page.
The couple had been married for 34 years, according to Lesniak’s Facebook profile.
Autel officials posted a short statement about the shooting on the company’s Facebook page Sunday afternoon.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occured at the Lesniak residence on January 18. We at Autel express our heartfelt condolences to the Lesniak family and friends,” the statement said.
Police said in the release that there is no ongoing threat to public safety, but the investigation is continuing.
“This incident is deeply tragic, and we urge the community to keep the family in their thoughts during this challenging time,” police said in the release.
