FBI makes third arrest in armed kidnapping of Garner mother and baby girl

FBI agents arrested the third suspect in the armed kidnapping of a Garner woman and her baby, officials said Friday.

Eleodoro “Leo” Estrada-Hernandez was taken into custody in Knightdale about 9 a.m. Friday, according to an FBI statement. Authorities had asked for the public’s help finding him on Wednesday, The News & Observer previously reported.

Estrada-Hernandez, 37, is charged with two counts each of first-degree kidnapping and assault by pointing a firearm and one count each of second-degree kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a felon in the Monday-night kidnapping of Alondra Michelle Benitez De Jesus, 26, and her 1-year-old daughter.

De Jesus and the child were taken from their Buck Branch Drive home just before 11 p.m. when an armed, masked trio broke in and demanded $1 million, Garner police said. When no money was provided, the intruders allegedly tied up De Jesus’ husband with duct tape and drove away with De Jesus and her daughter.

They were found safe at a Wake Forest home about 7 a.m. Tuesday after seeking help from a local resident, The N&O reported.

Paola Duran Duran, 25, of Raleigh and Miguel Angel Duran Duran, 23, of Raleigh were arrested Tuesday on two charges each of first-degree kidnapping and one charge each of second-degree kidnapping. They remained in the Wake County jail as of Friday without bail.

Officials have yet to release a potential motive in the kidnapping, and court documents offer scant details on the break-in. The Durans are siblings, but it’s unclear how they knew Estrada-Hernandez.

Estrada-Hernandez will be booked into the Wake County jail later Friday, the FBI said.
