15-year-old girl charged with murder in killing of teenage boy in Durham
A teenage suspect has been arrested in the fatal weekend shooting of another Durham teen, police said Tuesday.
A 15-year-old girl has been charged with murder in the Sunday afternoon shooting of a 16-year-old boy on North Holman Street, according to police.
Police have not released the names of either teen because of their ages. The boy was taken to the hospital by a third party and later pronounced dead, officials previously said.
Authorities said the incident appears to be isolated.
As a 15-year-old, the suspect will be charged as a juvenile but could be transferred to adult court. Under a change in state law late last year, 16- and 17-year-olds who are charged with serious crimes automatically start out in adult court.
