A Morrisville woman has been charged with a felony and three other charges after police say she hit and killed a pedestrian in Durham last week.

Durham police charged Ebony Donald, 29, with involuntary manslaughter, a felony punishable by up to nearly five years in prison.

They also charged her with speeding, two counts of misdemeanor child abuse and “reckless driving wanton disregard.”

Police say Donald was driving the Honda Accord that hit Iazias Davis in the 3700 block of Guess Road, north of Interstate 85, on Thursday, Nov. 13. Davis, 18, was attempting to cross the five-lane road at about 6:46 p.m. when he was hit by the southbound car.

Davis was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Police say a child riding in the Honda was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.

The posted speed limit on that section of Guess Road is 40 mph.

Police spent a few days investigating the collision before announcing the charges against Donald on Tuesday afternoon.
