A Kansas man was arrested in Cary on Monday after allegedly peeping into the women’s bathroom at a medical practice.

Nathan Debre Patterson, 49, of Lenexa, Kansas, is charged with misdemeanor secret peeping and resisting a public officer, court records show.

A warrant was issued for his arrest after he allegedly spied on the women’s restroom Monday at Cary Orthopaedics on Cary Parkway while a woman was inside, as first reported by CBS17.

Patterson ran from the officer who came to his parents’ home to arrest him, the warrant states. Court records show his mother lives in Cary.

He was released Tuesday after posting a $2,000 secured bond, according to court records. He’s been ordered not to have any contact with the victim and is forbidden from returning to Cary Orthopaedics, his release order shows.

Patterson has faced similar charges in Kansas, The News & Observer found. Kansas court records show Patterson pleaded guilty April 6, 2022, to a felony charge of breach of privacy through a video or picture in a Nov. 8, 2019, incident in Overland Park, a suburb of Kansas City.

Available court records don’t provide further details on the incident, but the section of Kansas law cited in court records describes the charge as installing any type of camera to film, photograph, videotape or otherwise record someone while naked or undressing.

Patterson was sentenced for that crime Sept. 23, 2022, but court records don’t show what punishment he received. Three other charges against him tied to the same incident and a Jan. 14, 2021, allegation were dismissed, according to court records.

Patterson is next set to appear in court in the Cary case on Jan. 28 at 7:45 a.m., court records state.
