What Raleigh police say happened

Three people were wounded in the shooting April 17 after a group of juveniles confronted and assaulted an employee near the mall’s Express store, The News & Observer previously reported.

The employee then pulled out a handgun, police said. The employee and one of the juveniles were injured and stayed on the scene as police arrived. The other two juveniles, one of whom was injured, fled.

All four were brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Neal allegedly fired “at least” seven shots from a Black Glock 22 .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, according to an arrest warrant.

The warrant names five individuals who police say Neal assaulted with his gun, one of whom was working inside the shoestore Journey’s near the incident and was “attempting to close the security gate.”

Neal is being held without bail in Wake County custody and is set to appear in court Tuesday.
