Grad student found dead at NC State is the seventh student to die this academic year
A graduate student at N.C. State University was found dead in a dorm on Wednesday, according to reports from ABC11 and WRAL.
On Thursday, the university announced a student had been found dead in the E.S. King Village Apartments on campus, the reports said.
Officials told ABC11 that the cause of death is currently unknown, but campus police said they do not suspect foul play or suicide.
The student’s name has not been released.
This death marks the seventh student death at NC State this academic year.
In late October and early November, N.C. State faced a cluster of student suicides.
After the third suicide of the year, which occurred in October, Chancellor Randy Woodson announced a “student wellness day” for Nov. 4, canceling classes that day as well as exams or deadlines the following day.
A fourth student suicide was reported one week after the wellness day on Nov. 11.
The next mental health day is scheduled for. Feb. 16, according to social media posts by the university.
