Winning the lottery may be a difficult feat, but for one plumber in Virginia, his challenge came after he snagged a jackpot prize.

Colonial Heights resident Nicholas Briglia won $566,000 playing the 10 Years of Cash game. When he realized how much he won, he tucked the ticket in his pocket and headed home, according to an Oct. 18 news release from the Virginia Lottery.

Then came the hard part, he told lottery officials: convincing his parents that the ticket was the real deal.

“They didn’t believe me,” he told lottery officials when he picked up his prize. “My dad still doesn’t believe.”

Briglia, who is a commercial plumber, bought his lucky ticket at Colonial Market Place, according to the release.

The odds of winning the jackpot in the game are 1 in 2,856,000, according to the Virginia Lottery.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
