Clerk’s choice leads to big lottery win for SC customer. Now, she has big plans
A South Carolina convenience store clerk might have the magic touch.
A woman walked into a Walterboro Shell station with an extra $5 in her pocket, and told the clerk to pick a lottery ticket for her.
The clerk picked out a Palmetto Cash 5 ticket and picked five numbers, then printed it out.
That ticket won $100,000.
The clerk’s choice matched all five numbers and beat the odds of 501,942 to one, winning the woman the top prize in the Feb. 1 drawing.
“It was wonderful,” the winner told lottery officials on March 1.
The winner said she would use the money to buy a new home.
Walterboro is about 50 miles northwest of Charleston.
