A mom of two is fighting for her life after a pack of eight dogs attacked her in Oregon, officials and loved ones said.

On July 15, Portland police got called to an encampment, Mike Benner, the public information officer with the department, told McClatchy News in a statement.

When officers arrived, they found a “chaotic scene,” Brenner said.

The woman, later identified as Mytoka Petry, according to KOIN, was taken to the hospital for life threatening injuries, officials said.

The mom of two lost her arm and nearly lost an eye, KOIN reported.

“Nobody should have to be subjected to that or be at the point of almost losing their life because they are out for a walk,” Julana Torres, a friend of Petry, told KOIN.

Two others intervened in the attack and were also injured, Brenner said.

“Mytoka is a such a light in this dim world. She only sees the absolute best in everyone. If you’ve met her daughters, you’d understand that it is something you’ll find in them as well,” a loved one said on GoFundMe. “She is lively and loves a good joke in uncomfortable situations. To know her, is to love her.”

The eight dogs were taken into custody by the Multnomah County Animal Services, KGW8 reported. They are being held while the investigation is ongoing.

As of July 24, Petry remains in the ICU and has had five surgeries, KGW8 reported.

“Mytoka has and will continue to hold closest to her heart, are her daughters. She is a mother first and foremost. Mytoka fought for her life to stay another day with her babies, and I think it is our turn to fight for her,” the GoFundMe page said.
