Lottery player thought he won $100, then double checks ticket. He missed lot of zeroes
A lottery player was happy when he thought he won $100, then he put the ticket in his pocket and carried on with his day, Virginia officials said.
It wasn’t until later that he checked his ticket again and realized he had missed several zeroes.
Teddy Breheim won $100,000 on a scratch-off game called $326,000,000 Fortune, the Virginia Lottery said in a Aug. 6 news release.
The Norfolk man missed the top prize of $5 million, which carries odds of 1 in 2,774,400, but he still ended up with a second-tier win, lottery officials said.
He bought his ticket at a Rite Aid in Chesapeake.
Only one prize of $100,000 and one prize of $5 million remain in the game, which debuted in October 2022, according to lottery officials.
Norfolk received more than $28.2 million for K-12 education from the Virginia Lottery in the last fiscal year, officials said.
