Civic involvement: I am the former Chairman of the UNCW College Republicans. I was heavily involved with the GOP during college and volunteered on multiple campaigns. I am a former NRA Campaign Field Representative where I helped ensure North Carolina’s Second Amendment rights were protected.
School test scores dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic. What should North Carolina do to improve student performance?
Due to COVID, students were forced out of schools and attended class virtually which dropped test scores. North Carolina should ensure students are attaining the best quality of education to improve student performance.
What do you want to happen in North Carolina if Roe v. Wade is overturned?
North Carolina should allow abortions up to 15 weeks and after that only in cases of rape, incest, or harm to the mother.
What should North Carolina do to reduce violent crime?
Increase funding to police departments and ensure those funds are used for adequate staffing.
Should medical marijuana be legalized in North Carolina?
Yes.
What should the state’s minimum wage be? What policies would you support to help struggling North Carolinians?
Minimum wage should at least be $10 an hour. I would support increasing the minimum wage, expanding Medicaid, and ensuring assistance programs are run efficiently.
Should North Carolina expand Medicaid, and how?
Yes. We should expand it to cover the gap and have a work requirement for those who are able bodied.
Is there an area where you disagree with your party? Why?
I disagree with a fair amount of my party on same-sex marriage. We live in a free nation, I believe you should be able to marry whoever you want. I myself am in a same-sex relationship.
What are your top issues? Pick up to three.
Education; gun rights and restrictions; and taxes.
