Have you run for elected office before? Yes, mayor of Reidsvile 1995, 2001, 2013, 2017, all successful.

Please list highlights of your civic involvement: Co-lead community pool building effort, as mayor moved meetings to evening, created Human Relations Commission, negotiated water agreement with Greensboro, built a regional senior center, built a second industrial park and recruited tenants from Israel, Japan, Australia and Italy.

What are the three issues that you see as most important to your district and what will you do to address them?

Eliminating the 2% grocery tax, pause the reduction of the state corporate income tax, expand Medicaid and properly fund our community public schools. Reprioritize our state budget to more closely align with our governor and courts.

At a time when costs are rising, state government has a surplus. How should it be used?

It should be used to realign our budget priorities to allow to eliminate the 2% grocery tax, expand Medicaid and to properly fund our community public schools.

Will you vote for Medicaid expansion in North Carolina?

Yes.

What has the legislature gotten right, and what has it gotten wrong, about public education in North Carolina?

The legislature is paying more attention to technical education in our public schools. Now, our legislature needs to properly fund this educational need along with funding our public school system properly.

Should North Carolina change its abortion laws? How?

There should be fewer restrictions on abortion after 20 weeks.

The right to privacy for both women and men should be the same. This includes reproductive healthcare. Our government should be limited in its interference in the patient/caregiver relationship.

Should medical marijuana be legalized in North Carolina?

Yes.

What, if anything, should the legislature do to shape curriculum dealing with topics of race, sexuality and gender?

Our legislature should not shape this curriculum. Instead, it should focus on addressing tangible solutions needed to improve education, healthcare, infrastructure and our judicial system.

Do you accept the results of the 2020 presidential election?

Yes.
